How Does Lip Plumper Work

Plump lips are luscious lips. No wonder most women including probably you, want it.  However, one has to choose a lip plumper with care, as it comes in different kinds. Basically, a good lip plumper should subtly make lips appear full without making it look like it has been torridly kissed. A bad lip plumper on the other hand can leave lips looking flaky and burning. So what lip plumper actually yields good results and how does it work? Let us take a look.

Some lip plumpers that comes in the form of gloss, balm, stick or gel operate on the theory that irritating the lip’s sensitive skin boosts blood flow providing you with a fuller lip. So, they use skin-irritating ingredients such as cinnamon, wintergreen, forms of capsaicin, caffeine and ginger or menthol. These lip plumpers do fatten the lips temporarily. However, constant use may cause lips to peel or even develop ulcers due to constant irritation.

A better lip plumper option would be the lip-conditioning plumpers which use ingredients such as peptides, marine collagen, and human growth factors. Manufacturers claim that with regular use these products will stimulate lips to produce pout-boosting collagen and elastin. Unfortunately, there is no research that would prove this claim.  At the very least, these lip-conditioning plumpers help retain moisture improving lines and wrinkles resulting to a bit of fullness.

Lip plumpers make us look younger and more attractive. Nevertheless, we should understand how they work, so we can decide on what is best for us. We have to develop realistic expectations about these products. They offer temporary lip plumping. In other words they will not enlarge the lips the same way a more expensive injection of a hyaluronic acid or bovine-extracted collagen filler does. So, if you want to have a fuller lip, go for the one that will give you a lasting result.
